Business Lessons From Las Vegas

September 6th, 2010 by admin

If you haven’t been to Las Vegas recently – you must go. When you visit take good notes. Las Vegas is an inspiring business model. Las Vegas is a place to learn how to run your business. It might be called the sin city. But the real lessons of Vegas are not about gambling. It’s about how to run a successful business.

Study these important business lessons that I learned from Las Vegas.

Follow systems

The Las Vegas casinos win most of the time – because they have and follow good systems. Some players think they have systems because they occasionally win. But the casinos are consistently successful because of their better systems.

Don’t be greedy

The Las Vegas casinos do not win every game. But they consistently win enough of the time and they are satisfied with that.

Promote your brand

Las Vegas is a unique city and the casinos are unique. The Luxor named after the ancient Egyptian city, is built in the shape of a pyramid. Excalibur named after the sword of King Arthur looks like the castle Camelot. New York New York makes you feel as if you are in the big apple. Las Vegas has a strong brand.

Offer value

Value is in the eye of the beholder. That’s why in Las Vegas one could pay hundreds of dollars for a room or $80. That’s why you can gorge at the $5.99 all-you-can-eat buffet or dine on $150 steak accompanied by $300 wine.

“Free” fools everyone

You can find free show tickets and free helicopter rides in exchange for attending a high pressure time share pitch. You can drink for free while you are gambling. High stakes gamblers get free room and meals.

Encourage your customers to be emotional

The lights, sounds and design of Las Vegas are created to drive the emotions of the customers. Emotional customers spend more and they infect other customers with their emotion. The Las Vegas casino staff mask their emotions behind their systematized tasks. Emotional clients make mistakes and are more likely to say yes to another game,

People buy what they want not what they need

No one needs to visit Las Vegas. No one needs to gamble. No one needs to pay $100 for a show ticket. No one needs to ride in a Hummer. But when people want these things price becomes less important. Las Vegas knows that and they sell what people want.

Create an experience

What do you want? That is the real calling card for Las Vegas. What do you want? You have choices in food, gambling, entertainment, transportation, and side trips. Remember no one needs what Vegas offers but people return for the experience and the memories.

Make people feel safe

Las Vegas, the city of sin feels safe. People walked along the strip with drinks in their hand yet there was no sign of violence. And the police kept a very low profile. The street venders always respected our signals to back off

Keep it clean

The streets of Las Vegas are clean. I went for an early morning run and noticed the street sweepers preparing for a new day. Even with an inordinate number of smokers I did not notice cigarettes butts on the sidewalk.

Offer choices

Pamper yourself at the Bellagio. Ride a gondola at the Venetian. View the city from the top of the Stratosphere. Entertain your family at Circus Circus. Rent a limousine. Attend a meeting at the Las Vegas convention center. Marvel at a magic show. Ride the Sky Train. Walk the strip. Visit downtown.

Las Vegas is an incredible experience. Las Vegas is a fabulous business model. If you haven’t been to Las Vegas yet – go. Notice the details and observe how they do things. Take notes. Then re-examine and reinvent your business. Stack the odds in your favor. You’ll have a winning hand.

Las Vegas ? A popular Tourist Destination

September 6th, 2010 by admin

Las Vegas, named as the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’, is famous for casino resorts and number of entertainments. Las Vegas is internationally famous for gambling, shopping and entertainment.

When to Visit:  Summer is hot in Las Vegas, with temperatures touching a high of 38ºC from June to September. In winter the average temperature still remains above 13ºC, while the rest of the year it will be around 19ºC. Sunbathers are in for a treat, because the city receives more than 200 days of clear sky every year on average, but for temperatures and events, the best time to visit Las Vegas is spring and autumn. The cheapest time to Visit Las Vegas is during July and August because the hotel prices drop as thermometers rise. The same goes for January and February.

Where to Stay:  There are many hotel options available with all luxuries one would expect from a Las Vegas hotel and casino. Few among those are – Treasure Island Hotel, Mirage Hotel, Caesars Palace Hotel, Bellagio , Wynn, Planet holiday Resort, Hilton, Four Seasons and Palms Casino Resort. Even though there seems to be an endless supply of rooms, conventions and special events fill them up fast. If you’re planning on attending a popular event reserve a year in advance to be safe. Room rates can fluctuate drastically, so if you’re on a budget, planning ahead is highly recommended.

What to See:

1.    Bellagio Fountains:-  Using a dramatic combination of music, water and light, the Bellagio delivers awesome performances with its monumental fountains. Every evening, time seems to stop in front of the Bellagio. Make sure that you don’t pass this amazing attraction up when you are in beautiful Las Vegas. The show can be seen after 3 pm every half hour until 8 pm. Then there is a free show every 15 minutes until midnight. A great romantic sight for any couple on vacation in Las Vegas or a great way to relax for anyone.

 2.      Eiffel Tower :-  Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, visitors can catch great views nearly 50 stories above the ground. From the observation deck, which stands at 460 feet, guests are able to see the entire valley. As the Eiffel Tower is a popular romantic destination, all types of guests come and see this attraction. The Eiffel Tower replica is about half the size of the original in France. While these two vary in height, there are many similarities between them. Both have an enclosed observation deck for safety as well as a glass elevator to admire the stunning view on the way to the top.

3.    Mirage Volcano:- Set on a small lagoon, the volcano at the Mirage Hotel is an amazing display of 3,000 lights computerized to simulate flowing lava. The volcano is 50 feet high and erupts 40 feet into the air. The volcano erupts every 15 minutes daily from 7 PM to midnight. The show is free. The volcano at the mirage has been an admittedly key attraction in Las Vegas since the Mirage opened in 1989.

4.       Forum Shops at Caesars Palace:- The Forum Shops at Caesars is Las Vegas’ premier retail, dining and entertainment destination, featuring more than 160 boutiques and shops as well as 13 restaurants and specialty food shops. The Forum Shops have held on to their position as the most successful shopping venue in the country through continual progress. The Forum shops at Ceasars give a unique atmosphere that stimulates ancient Roman streets and has no visual comparison in the world.

 5.   Stratosphere Tower:- The Stratosphere Tower Hotel and Casino is a complete entertainment resort and one of the finest properties in Las Vegas. The hotel’s tower is the tallest building west of the Mississippi. There are two thrill rides: the High Roller, the world’s highest roller coaster, starts 909 feet above the ground, and the Big Shot is like a reverse bungee jump. The 12-story Stratosphere Tower pod has outdoor and indoor observation decks which offer an incredible panoramic view of the city, the 360 seat Top of the World revolving restaurant, a 220 seat cocktail lounge with the best view in town, and six meeting rooms.
